A day for workers to appreciate their employers. Originated in 1958 by Patricia Bays Haroski to honor her own boss, who also happened to be her father.

National Hunting and Fishing Day

Armed Forces Unified

On this date in 1947, President Truman signed legislation unifying the two branches of the armed forces into the Department of Defense. The branches merged were the Army and the Navy. The Air Force was separated from the Army at the same time and made an independent force.
